Father's Dday 2010

Yesterday we celebrated Father's Day with both our dads. We had such a great time! We went to the Blanco River in Wimberley with our family, plus Pappy G and Grandpa Eric. Jackson loved the water as usual and had so much fun splashing, swimming, and his favorite thing, chewing on empty bottles! We came home hot, tired, and hungry. We had a huge feast, stuffed ourselves silly, and were ready for bed at 8:30. Such a fun weekend, and I hope a memorable one for Patrick's 1st Father's Day. He is such a good Daddy to Jackson. We are really blessed to have him. Jack loves him so much and I love to just sit back and watch them. If you ask me, there is nothing sexier than a man who is good with children, and I'm so happy my husband is so good with our son. Love the boys in my life! I'm so glad I got to spend it with my Dad and Father-in-law too!

Mother's Day 2010

This past Sunday was Mother's Day, and what a special day it was! I can't believe I'm finally a mom to such an amazing little guy. I feel so blessed that I get to be his Momma. He makes me happier than I ever thought imaginable. I keep wondering if there will come a day where I don't just think he's the cutest kid on the planet?!? His smile just melts my heart....even though he's begun throwing these terrible temper tantrums lately over everything. Anyway, we spent the day at my Mother-in-laws in Lago Vista. I got to sleep in till 9:00 which was AMAZING and something that rarely ever happens. Then we went to church and just hung out with the family...overall a great weekend! And while I'm on the subject of Mother's Day, I'll take a minute to praise my own Mother, who for me, this day was really about. She is the MOM of all mom's...I can't even begun to describe how amazing she is. Really! She is the model mother and I hope that someday I can look back and say that I was half the Mom she has been to me. She is so giving of herself: her time, her talent and her love. She has always been there for me through every moment, good and bad in my life, and now that I have my own child, I can truly see all her beauty. And she loves Jackson so much, which means the world to me! So Mom, if you're reading this, Thanks for being the best Mother anyone could ever ask for...I Love You!
P.S. I am so disappointed I didn't even get a picture of me and my Mom ;-(

Okay so I am a little, or a LOT late on posting these pictures, but I just had to share some of the pictures from Jackson's 6 month photoshoot! It was so much fun. He had litterly cut his first tooth less than a week before, and the second one was following close behind, so we got ton of "grandpa" shots where he is feeling his new teeth- too funny! I can't wait till my prints come in and I get to hang them in my house....it's funny because that was one thing I always looked forward to before I was pregnant (hanging large pictures of my kids) and now I finally get to =) There pretty cute if I do say so myself.

Homemade Baby Food

So the past couple of weeks I have been experimenting with making my own baby food. I did it primarliy for 3 reasons: 1. I can give Jackson way more of a variety of food if I make it myself; for example you can only buy 5 different kinds of veggies and fruits at the store, and I would like my child to taste everything and hope that he will not be ridiculously picky in his childhood years like I was. I made sweet potatoes, 2 kinds of squash, nectarines, peaches, plums, mangos, apples, pears, and avacado. 2. It is a lot cheaper; 2 sweet potatoes made 16 servings! And since I chose to stop breastfeeding and formula is crazy expensive, I thought I could contribute my time by making my own. 3. I am a stay-at-home mom and I feel like I have no excuse for NOT making my own. I'm not lazy (it is work), and I figured I could set aside some of my personal time to make nutritous food for my son. And I have to admit, it was kind of fun. Time consuming, but fun, none-the-less! So here's to happy, healthy eating for my little man!

Sick baby, Tired Mommy...

I feel like this past week has been never-ending. We are going on day 7 (tomorrow) of Jackson being sick. We had a great week the week before visiting my sister, brother and sister-in-law and all their kids the week before at my Mom's house for Spring Break. Jackson was having a good time with his cousins, but unfortunately came down with the nasty colds they all had. I should have know that coughing kids with runny noses would be contagious, but I was hoping that all that great breast milked I spent 6 months pumping him full of would ward off any illness. WRONG! After the family grandkids photoshoot on Monday, Jackson was fussy and beginning to feel bad so we went home and he has been so sick ever since. It's scary having your baby be so sick! He has totally not been himself: running high fevers, runny nose, coughing, congestion, and not eating. And if you know my child, you know that not eating means there is definately something wrong! He was so dehydrated his little lips keep cracking and bleeding. Poor baby, he just wants to be held. Despite him being sick, we still went to my neice, Jacy's birthday party yesterday and spent the night at Patrick's mom's house. We did not get much sleep at all! Then tonight, I felt in his mouth and he has cut his top right front tooth! As if being sick wasn't bad enough, I'm sure the new tooth is contributing to the fever and fussiness. UGH! I'm so tired -I'm ready to have my happy, healthy baby back!

What I Love About Jackson...

There are so many things that I love about you...Here is a small list of my favorites:

  • The sweet sound of your laugh and that precious dimple that comes with it

  • How you love to be kissed right between your eyes, and on your toes

  • That you're a Momma's boy - BIG TIME =)

  • Your crazy, puffy hair

  • Your beautiful blue eyes and how they seem to twinkle when you're happy

  • How you cover your eyes to sleep

  • Your oh so chubby thighs; I could squeeze them for hours

  • That reverse scream you do like your Daddy did when he was a baby

  • The look on your face when I peek over your crib and you see me in the mornings

  • That you love to be tickled

  • That you look a little like both of us

  • How happy you make us...

Back to the Blog

So after getting all excited about starting a blog to document my daily life as a new Mom, setting it up, and making a whopping 2 entries, I somehow forgot about it. Okay so I didn't forget about it, I just didn't have time for it. I had plenty of time to read other peoples, just not to write my own ;) As of tomorrow, my sweet baby boy will be 6 months!!! It took me 6 months to get back to this. I feel like I should catch up on all that has happened in the past half of the year, but that would take forever. Let's just say a LOT has changed. We have a beautiful baby boy who is our entire world. I love him more than I have ever loved anything in my life and I am enjoying every second of being a Mommy (except maybe the sleepless nights.) I am no longer working...wait, let me say I am no longer getting paid, but by all means, I AM working. This is definately a full time job - one that lasts 24 hours, seven days a week. My life has changed in a million ways - my heart has grown just a little bit bigger. When I look at my son, my sweet little Jackson Bear, I can't imagine my life without him. I wanted him more than anything in the world, and it still, 6 months later, seems surreal that he is really here.

I will try to do better at this whole blog thing, but this is all for now...
